The Use of Technology in Detecting and Responding to Overdose

The Scottish Government is supporting a project to identify digital technologies to prevent drug overdoses. We would like to understand the views of people who use drugs to understand their digital technology needs and how digital technology can improve safety for these people. This project has received ethical approval from the University of Stirling ref. no. 3092.

Online discussion groups will be led by a researcher.  Researchers will provide information on the types of technologies being considered including wearable devices and apps.

Participants will be asked to share their experiences and views on digital technologies, and if they think these might be appropriate and practical.  Discussions will help inform the development and testing of technologies that could help reduce deaths from drug-related overdoses in Scotland.
