Remote Addiction Consultations

Development of remote addiction consultations including: consensus among Scottish Addiction health and care providers on the most appropriate system(s), protocols for delivery of care, engagement with associated services (social care, peer recovery communities, psychology / psychiatry, prescribing and dispending, and compliance monitoring).  The primary goal is to increase engagement in addiction care among people living in remote areas, those who are street homeless, and those with physical and/or psychological conditions that reduce their ability to engage in traditional, clinic-based care.  Additional benefits include reduction in the cost of healthcare delivery, reduction in Did Not Attend and drop-out of care rates, and reduction in risk of acquisition/transmission of COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and other communicable diseases of higher prevalence and/or likely to cause harm among people who use drugs.
